Online Advertising

 

TheCrimson.com is an excellent place to market your products and services or build your brand online. As the online version of Harvard's undergraduate newspaper, our audience consists of highly-educated college students with a significant amount of disposable income. Our articles are often linked to by major media outlets including CNN, MSNBC, and The Washington Post, bringing millions of additional visitors. 

We currently have offer both display ads and text link ads on a monthly basis. Our display ads include vertical banner (160x600), top horizontal banner (468x60), bottom horizontal banner (468x60), box ad (300x250) and a side article page (300x600).

Advertising Policies

 

Submission

  • The deadline for submission of all advertising is noon, two business days prior to publication. Advertising must be in black and white (except for color ads, which must be submitted in CYMK) and can be in the following digital formats: .tif, .jpg or .pdf.
  • Please email advertising copy to adcopy @ thecrimson.com. Copy may also be faxed to (617) 576-7860, or brought during business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or shipped to the offices of The Harvard Crimson at 14 Plympton Street, Cambridge, MA 02138.

 

Content

  • All advertising content is subject to the approval of the President and Business Manager of The Harvard Crimson. The Crimson will not publish advertisements which unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, ancestry, or physical handicap. The advertiser assumes complete responsibility and liability for the content of advertisements placed in The Harvard Crimson.
  • The Crimson reserves the right to reject any advertisement for any reason. In general, advertisements that contain ad hominem attacks, are factually inaccurate, are unduly offensive or tasteless, or violate libel or other laws will not be run in The Crimson.

 

Placements

  • The Crimson does not guarantee specific page placements. In addition, The Crimson will make every effort to correct any content errors brought to our attention as of two business days prior to insertion.

 

Costs

  • The Crimson will only consider adjustment of payment regarding errors in advertisements if the advertising managers are notified within five business days of publication. The Crimson will not assume cost for more than one error in any insertion.
  • First-time advertisers must pay for advertisements before the date of contract.
  • Invoices are sent for individual ads after each insertion.
  • Volume discounts must be approved by an advertising manager or by the Business Manager, and will generally only be considered for contracts of a semester or year in duration. The Crimson reserves the right to revise terms and rates of advertising.
  • Please request a copy of our rate card for further information on conditions and regulations for advertising.
