Lacrosse Team to Face Tech Away; Freshmen Play Here

By Walter W. Bregman

Though it probably won't need the depth, the varsity lacrosse team will be at full strength today when it meets M.I.T. on the Engineers home field. Long in breather on the Crimson schedule, the Current team does not promise to depart from its traditional role.

Coach Bruce Munro will try to work in some of his previously injured veterans and find a replacement for midfielder Pete Palches, still alling with a pulled ligament. Returning to action will be Ed Sexton, hurt in an auto accident; Monk Aiello, burned in a freak fire; and jim Telfer, injured on the spring trip.

In previous tilts, the team has been able to beat inferior squads using only two midfields and one attack, but with the Dartmouth, University of New Hampshire, Williams, and Yale games coming up Munro must have three midfields and a reserve attack.

For the first time since the vacation trip the Crimson will have the use of two left-handed midfielders necessary to successful play making and coordination. Hank Wood will work as usual on the first midfield, while Telfer will fill the southpaw position on the second line. Along with Wood will be starters Captain Ron Huebsch and Fred Horween, while Skip Baldwin and Todd Goodwin will work with Telfer. Chuck Edwards will move back to the third and play beside Hank Rate and an as yet unnamed third person.

The attack remains Monk Alello, Phil Waring and Ed Cutis, who for the first time this year have fairly adequate replacements in Tom Whedon, Jim Dorsey and Bitsey Grant. The defense will also stay the same, with Tom Crump, Paul Jones, and Ted Sexton starting.

Yardlings Play Middlesex

The freshman lacrosse team will be looking for its fifth win of the season when it faces Middlesex School today at 3:45 p.m. Captain Dexter Lewis will again lead the Crimson attack.

Starting lineup for today's game will contain no radical changes. Don David-off, John Lane, and Lewis will be the attack men, backed up by Tim Cogan, Lindsay Fischer, Bobby Lloyd, and Fuzzy Stewart in midfield slots. Tom Cooney will tend the nets.

In the course of six games, Coach Bob Pickett's Yardlings have lost only to Deerfield and Exeter. They will go to Hanover to meet the Dartmouth freshmen this Saturday.
