THE BIOLOGY BUILDING

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Although they have been used since the opening of the academic year, the may Biological Laboratories had their formal presentation in the public only yesterday whom representatives of the press made a tour on inspection. For the first time reporters could make an inventory of the first-ratio facilities which a generous gift has made available for the University's scientists.

The use of the most modern equipment and the enjoyment of ample space in naturally in itself most welcome to men engaged in scientific research. An equally important advantage of the new building is that it brings together under one roof the artificially separated fields of physiology, zoology, and botany. Through a consolidation, of their resources, all three departments have been strengthened.

More essential than the physical connection of the departments, which results mainly in greater convenience, is the closer relationship in research which should be encouraged by the juxtaposition of men working in various allied fields. Every change which opposes the tendency of branches of science to lose sight of each other is desirable. The influence which the Biological Laboratories will have in this direction, added to the mechanical efficiency which now equipment will make possible, should boar fruit in important advances in the biological sciences.
