ELECTION OF CLASS OFFICERS BY' 74.

THE Senior Class met in Upper Massachusetts Hall last Wednesday night for the purpose of electing officers for their Class Day, June 19, 1874. The meeting was the largest ever held by the class, 146 members being present, and was opened by the election of Mr. Richmond as Chairman and Messrs. Merwin, Elwood, and F. J. Stone as Secretaries. The election of officers began with the choice of Orator, and Mr. R. H. Dana, being the only candidate, was elected by acclamation. For Poet the candidates were Messrs. Mackintosh and Fenollosa. The result of the ballot was as follows: -

Total number of votes . . . . 145

Mackintosh . . . . 105

Fenollosa . . . . 40

Mr. Riddle was then elected Odist by acclamation. For Ivy Orator there were two candidates, Mr. Merriam and Mr. Lawton. The ballot stood about as follows: -

Total number of votes . . . . 132

Merriam . . . . . 87

Lawton . . . . . 45

For the office of Chaplain there were also two candidates, Messrs. Coale and Hopkins. The ballot resulted thus: -

Total number of votes . . . . 140

Coale . . . . . 107

Hopkins . . . . . 33

All the remaining officers were chosen by acclamation, there being only one candidate for each place. Their names are given below. At the conclusion of the election instruction on various points was given the committees, and it was voted that the Class Committee ascertain the expediency of placing a stained-glass window in Memorial Hall. After cheers for the officers the meeting was dissolved. The following is a complete list of the officers chosen: -
