TO THE EDITORS OF THE CRIMSON:-
I ROOM in Thayer, and I desire to call the attention of the College to the eminently fitting selection which the Bursar has made in choosing a janitor for that building. This individual was formerly employed as a conductor by the Union Railway Company, and was discharged by them for neglect of duty. Complaints had also been made by passengers and drivers that he was drunk while on duty, although this was not the immediate cause of his discharge.
When a person employs any one, he is apt to look into his previous record; the Bursar evidently considers this an entirely superfluous process, in employing a man who is to have a good deal of power over a large building full of students.
I shall be most happy to substantiate the charge which I have made against this janitor, if the Bursar considers such a trivial and unimportant matter worthy of his attention.
