The Spirit of the Times in its report of the Harvard-University of Penn sylvania foot-ball game reflects very severely on the bad blood displayed by several of the piayers, to say nothing of the bad language used. If this report is to be credited we must impress upon Harvard the necessity of mending her manners before playing the championship games. She must not for a moment forget that it is her mission, to which the vulgar straining for victory must ever be secondary, to set before less favored colleges a shining example of how the cultured gentleman plays foot-ball.
