Butler's friends among the graduates of Dartmouth, it is reported, are lobbying to get him the degree of LL. D. from Webster's college. It is solicited as "a rebuke to Harvard." It is also said that President Bartlett of Dartmouth has promised Governor Butler that "he shall have the degree." We can see no other ground why Dartmouth should give the degree than the one named. It would be a peculiarly gracious act.
