AN ILLUSTRIOUS CLASS AT BOWDOIN.

Longfellow's class in college was one of the most remarkable that ever graduated at Bowdoin. There were, among them, Nathaniel Hawthorne (who spelled his name Hathorne in college); Franklin Pierce, afterward President of the United States; Jonathan Cilley, who was shot, while a member Congress, in a duel, by Mr. Graves of Kentucky; George B.
