‘The Architect of the Whole Plan’: Harvard Law Graduate Ken Chesebro’s Path to Jan. 6
The nine played a practice game yesterday with the Beacons and were defeated by the score of 10 to 7. Nichols pitched for the Beacons and was very effective, while Boyden and Tilden pitched and caught for Harvard. LeMoyne played right field for our nine and Keep took his place at left. The game was interesting only in that it showed how effective Nichols might be against the nine who had practiced with him all winter. He struck out eight men and only seven scattering hits were made off his delivery.
The Beacon nine as a whole, played a loose fielding game, but Richardson caught splendidly, and Welch and Merrill did well. They batted quite heavily, Richardson, Welch and Badger taking the lead. Harvard's fielding was not remarkably good, but Coolidge and Baker played good games. As a nine, they failed to hit Nichols with any ease, but Tilden, who made three of their seven hits, batted very heavily and Keep made a beautiful home run.
