The plan of giving second prizes at the remaining winter meetings in any events where more than four men contest will, we hope, induce a still larger number of men to enter. Where, as is often the case, the probable winner is known beforehand, an inducement for which the rest of the men may strive will be likely to bring about the desired end. The officers of the H. A. A. are certainly doing all in their power to make the remaining meetings the best we have yet seen.
