THE FRESHMEN DEFEATED THE J. L. WHITING NINE 8 TO 7.

The freshmen played a very close and exciting game yesterday afternoon. The freshmen played a loose game at times but made up for it in the last two innings by their heavy betting. The features of the game were the batting of Willard and the playing of Long. Willard and Potter fielded well for Harvard. The score:
