"PLUTARCH ON THE DELAY OF DIVINE JUSTIGE." REV. A. P. PEABODY, D. D., L. L. D.- LITTLE, BROWN, AND CO. The latest work by Dr. Peabody is a masterly translation of Plutarch's essay entitled, to render it literally "Concerning those who are punished slowly by the Divinity." The volume before us is the result of careful labor and research, containing. besides the translation, a full introduction, and elaborate foot notes. The work will be an important addition to the libraries of all interested in the study of Christian ethics.

THE UNITED SERVICE for the current month is unusually interesting. Aside from its more technical articles it contains much to attract the attention of the average reader. An article on the "Battles of the Thirty Years' War," fully illustrated by maps, will be found an important aid to the work done in some of our history courses. The detailed account of recent events in Egypt and the Soudan, accompanied by an excellent map, is a timely addition to our information on current topics. Despite the announcement made by the Army and Navy Gazette, the United Service is not yet extinct.
