One of the most successful books for summer reading recently published is George Riddle's Readings. It was a happy thought to collect those pieces, in the presentation of which Mr. Riddle has made his reputation, and publish them in the form of a book. The volume is made up of the writings, humorous and otherwise, of several of the best known authors, and there is no trace of the cheap literature which some readers make use of to amuse their audiences. The book is tastefully bound and is as well an ornament as a real companion. We heartily recommend this little volume to all, not only as of interest in itself, but as a fitting souvenir of pleasant evenings spent with Mr. Riddle.
