The junior eleven beat the English High School team yesterday, in two twenty-minute halves, 24 to 0. '93 played a quick, sharp game, and, with one or two slips excepted, showed great improvement over last week's play. The backs played well together, and gained a great deal by their quick work. The tackling for '93, was too high, and the men slow in throwing the backs down. For E. H. S., the weight of the line was the most effective. Their backs were not run around the ends at all. but through the guards and tackles. E H. S. had very little team work, and this was the chief reason why they were beaten so badly.
In the first half the play was in the High School's territory most of the time. Two touch downs were made and goals kicked from them both. Score 12 to 0 In the second half the first touch down was made on a fumble by E. H. S. and a long run by Thatcher. No goal. The second was made from a punt into the line, by Parker. No goal. A second fumble by E. H. S. cost another touch down, from which no goal was kicked. Score 24 to 0.
