‘The Architect of the Whole Plan’: Harvard Law Graduate Ken Chesebro’s Path to Jan. 6
The cross-country run held yesterday afternoon was in every way a success. Shortly after four o'clock, out of the twenty-five men entered the following eleven lined up across the street just in front of the Gymnasium: Carr, D. W. Fenton '95, Blake '93, Endicott '94, J. O. Nichols L. S., Crane '94, Stein '95, Lincoln '95, Townsend '93, Lowell '95 and H. G. Nichols '93.
The trail had been laid off a short time before, and led up Concord Ave. to Walden St., across the fields to the Fitchburg Railroad, then to the Glacialis, around Fresh Pond to Cushing St., down to Mt. Auburn Station, through Brattle St. and Mason St., and across the Common, the finish being in front of the Law School. Carr took the lead at the start and kept it all during the race; he set a hot pace and finished very strong, making the five and a quarter miles in 31 minutes and 50 seconds. Fenton was second all the way his time being 32 minutes and 1 second. Blake '93, got the third prize his time being 32 minutes 18 1-2 seconds.
The other men finished in the following order:
Name. Time. Min. Sec.
4. Endicott '94, 32 28
5. J. O. Nichols L. S., 32 28 1-5
6. C. H. Crane '94, 37 43
7. F. W. Stein '95, 39 20
8. A. Lincoln '95, time not taken.
9. Townsend '93, time not taken.
The finish between Endicott and Nichols was very fine. Endicott winning by two feet after they had spurted for about fifty yards. The officers of the run were as follows: Referee, J. H. Rhoades '92; judges, T. C. Smith '92 and J. H. Hunt '92; timers, R. C. Robbins and Mr. Lathrop; checkers, Batchelder '92, Pratt '94, Lowell '92, and Wheelwright '94.
