The notice in the CRIMSON yesterday in regard to organizing a Mandolin Club from the freshman class, called together seven candidates in Weld 1, last evening. Six of these were mandolin players, two of whom are on the 'varsity club, and only one played the guitar. As five or six more guitars are needed, several men who play guitars on the Freshman Banjo Club will probably play on the Mandolin Club also.
It is the first club of the kind to be formed by a freshman class at Harvard and ought to be encouraged by generous support from '95.
Music was given out for the men to practice until the first rehearsal, which will be held at 8 o'clock on Thursday at 37 Brattle Street.
The following men were present:
Mandolins - C. N. Flandrau, J. N. Yost, J. Sargent, P. H. Lombard, R. L. Whitman, M. L. Scull.
Guitar. - F. E. Lowell.
