Brown 6; Harvard 3.

Brown won her second victory over Harvard yesterday by superior work at the bat. Although Bates struck out eleven men he was hit safely eleven times, for a total of sixteen bases. He was at times very wild, allowing one man to come home from third on a wild pitch, and another to reach third on a base on balls and two wild pitches. In trying to cut a man off at second he threw wildly to Dean, whom Hallowell failed to back up well, and the runner came home. On the whole, however, our men played better than for several games past. and fought a plucky uphill fight. Except in the fourth inning, Brown played finely throughout the game.

Brown got a fine lead in the first two innings. Tenney made a home run in the first, fortunately when the bases were empty. In the second three hits, a base on balls, and a passed ball brought in three more runs. This lead Harvard found it impossible to overcome. In the first inning we failed to score, though Dean led off with a three base hit. In the fourth inning we made two runs on Hovey's two bagger, Trafford's sacrifice, a steal and Thurston's error. Our only other run was earned in the eighth by Hallowell's hit, and Frothingham's fine three bagger.
