Matthews Scholarships.

It has been decided that the Matthews Scholarships, fifteen in number, each with an income of three hundred dollars, shall hereafter be given preferably to those intending to stndy for the ministry of the Protestam Episcopal Church and also to sons of Episcopal clergymen. This is at the request of the founder, Mr. Nathan Matthews, whose original purpose was to benefit the Episcopal Church He found that those who intended to study for the ministry in the Episcopal Church rarely took more than two or three scholarships in any one year, and for that reason added the new clause, that the scholarships shall be thrown open likewise to sons of Episcopal ministers.
