The league was founded in 1882. Its purpose is "to discourage intemperance in drinking." Public meetings are held under its auspices at which prominent temperance advocates deliver addresses. After the address this evening there will be a business meeting, at which all members of the University are invited to join the league. There are no membership fees, the expenses of the society being paid by contributions.
