The Wendell Phillips Club held a meeting last night with over sixty men present. The question, "Resolved, That the hard times of the present year were mainly due to the uncertainty as to the tariff legislation," was debated in the affirmative by A. P. Stone, L. S., and W. R. Buckminister '94, and in the negative by C. W. Mixter, G. and F. C. Thwaits, L. S. After the debate was thrown open eighteen men spoke, of whom most were candidates for admission.

The club voted that at only such meetings as the executive committee should select, might men speak as candidates for membership.
