Rev. Henry Van Dyke preached in Appleton Chapel last evening. He took for his text Matthew III 3. "How much, then, is a man better than a beast?"

The sermon was a comparison of man and the lower animal. The speaker demonstrated the superiority of the former by his advantages of mind, reason and will; recounted the love of God for man and ended in an appeal to man to think of the things now and to act upon them.
