The service at Appleton chapel last evening was conducted by Dr. Francis G. Peabody. He took his text from the eighth chapter of Paul's epistle to the Romans, the nineteenth and twentieth verses. He spoke of the element of personal responsibility which underlies and controls development, considering the thought in its relations to home, to society, to government, to the university life, of which we are a part, and finally to man himself. The choir sang Hopkin's anthem, "Lift up your heads," Stainer's, "Blessed be the Man," and Brown's "Thy sun shall no more go down."
