The game between the Harvard and Amherst freshman nines Saturday was won by Harvard in a very close game. In the first half of the ninth inning Amherst tied the score and it was only by Gregory's timely hit, bringing Garrison home, that Harvard won. The fielding of the Harvard freshmen was poor, Dean alone at second making five errors.
The features of the game were the effective pitching of Gregory and a home run by Beale. Score by innings:
Innings, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Harvard '97, 2 0 0 1 1 4 2 0 1-11
Amherst '97, 1 0 6 0 0 1 0 0 2-10
