Wretched batting and fielding characterized the freshman game yesterday afternoon. The boys played without any life or snap, and they must settle down and play sharper ball if they wish to win the next game with Yale. Harvard made most of her runs in the third inning. Beale made a safe hit, Warren and Stevenson got to base on balls and with the bases full Scott hit a home run to left field bringing in four runs. The other run was made by Dean in the last inning.

A large part of the defeat was due to the pitching of Gregory who was weak and wild, and it was owing to Scott's good work behind the bat that Brown did not have a larger score.

In the sixth inning Gregory lost his head and a base hit, four bases on balls and a wild pitch brought in three runs. The game was practically won in this inning, but in the next two innings Brown scored four times more, owing to well timed hits and a wild throw over first base on the part of Stevenson, and two errors by Garrison.
