'Varsity Crew.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The 'varsity crew begins the present week with a slight change m its make up on Monday, by reason of the absence of Newell, Blake '94 was placed in bow. At 3, Steams was substituted for Johnson. This made the order:

Fennessy Stroke

Fearing, No. 7

Vail, No. 6

Cummings, No. 5

Davis, No. 4

Stearns, No. 3

Richardson, No. 2

Biake, Bow

On Tuesday, however, the old order again obtained, with the same make-up as above, except Johnson who returned to No. 3, Newell who returned bow. There are at present eleven man at the training table: those named above, excepting Stearns, with the addition of Acton and Eddy. Stearns will no longer be in the boat.

A number of men who are 'varsity material are at present training with their class crews; Eddy is at present rowing with the Sophomore crew, although still at the 'varsity table. Capt. Vail feels that the class boats should not suffer, but rather that they should make the best possible showing Any available men among them can be taken back after the class races.

Twelve men will be taken to New London. Fennessy's work at stroke is admirable. Fearing at No. 7 is still slow in shooting the arms. Vail at No. 6 pulls a clean oar. Cummings at No. 5 is still a little out of good physical form by reason of his old trouble with the stomach, but he will swing into line by June Davis at, 4 does good work, as also does Richard, son at No. 2. Johnson at No, 3 is a little sluggish in recovering and in shooting the arms. Newell in the bow is steady and reliable. Yesterday afternoon the coach used the new four oared shell. It is a great addition to the present equipment of the boat house.
