Owing to the embarassed condition of the English Department, caused by the death of Professor Child, and the serious illness of two other members of the department, Dr. Robinson and Mr. Fletcher, three half courses in English literature will be omitted this year.
The courses are, English 17 and 9, on English Literature in relation to Italian and Spanish Literature of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries, heretofore given by Mr. Fletcher; and Professor Child's well-known course on the English and Scottish Ballads.
English 2, Shakespeare. will be conducted as usual, though no definite arrangement has yet been made for the last half of the course, formerly given by Professor Child.
