'Varsity Crew.

During the recess the 'Varsity Crew candidates have been out on the Charles twice a day either in pair oars under the eye of Faulkner, to get watermanship, or in the shell to get unity while Coach Mumford has given pointers on the inboard work. At present there are only 8 men with the crew, as Stillman has stopped rowing, but they will soon be joined by men from the class crews. Immediately after the class race on May 4th, a College Eight will be formed which will be chosen from the men on the three upper class crews. They will row together for 10 days after which the eight will be disbanded, the best men being either taken into the 'Varsity boat or as 'Varsity substitutes.

Mr. Watson has returened from England and was out watching the men during the recess. He did no active coaching and in all probablity he will not coach any more this year. Mumford and Faulkner, who coached during his absence, will continue to train the crew.
