GEOLOGICAL EXCURSIONS.

Arrangements have been made for a series of geological excursions, which will be conducted by officers of the departments of Geology, Geography, Mineralogy and Petrography, during the months of April and May. Instructors and students in the Geological Departments of other New England colleges (for men) are cordially invited to co-operate. The excursions from Cambridge are under the supervision of Mr. T. A. Jaggar, Jr., who is prepared to give information as to travelling expenses, etc. His office hours will be Mondays from 9 to 10 a. m. in room 3, ground floor of the Museum of Zoology.

Books relating to the principal points of interest visited in these excursions will be found on the table specially reserved in Room 3, Museum of Zoology.

The following list is provisional and subject to change; details about trains, etc., will be announced in the Calendar from week to week, and postponement in any case will be announced before noon Friday on the Bulletin in University Hall:

In March (date to be announced on Bulletin).- Excursion to Manomet Hill, Plymouth, conducted by Professor Shaler. (Leave Boston 8.30 a. m., Old Colony for Plymouth, Return 4.02 p. m. Take luncheon.)

April 3.- Excursion to Ipswich, Mass., conducted by Mr. John H. Sears, of the Peabody Academy of Science, Salem, Mass. Special features: Glacial, coastal and petrographic geology.

April 10.- Excursion to Meriden, Conn., conducted by Professor W. M. Davis. Special features: The relations of the Triassic Sandstones and Lava Beds. (Monadnock Mountain may be substituted for this excursion.)

Spring Recess.- Excursion from April 18 to April 23.

(1) Excursion to the Mohawk Valley, N. Y., conducted by Professor W. M. Davis. Special features: The Former outlet of Lake Ontario.

(2) Excursion to Franklin Furnace and other points in Sussex County, N. J., conducted by Professor J. E. Wolff. Special features: The Minerals and Mines of Franklin and eruptive rocks of Beemerville.

May 1.- Excursion to the Triassic Belt of Western Massachusetts, conducted by Professor B. K. Emerson, of Amherst.
