The preliminary and first rounds in the spring tennis tournament were played Saturday afternoon on the Jarvis Field courts. The summary is as follows:

Preliminary Round.

J. F. Brice '99 beat W. G. Clerk 1901, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3.

First Round.

R. A. Bidwell '99 beat W. H. Laverack 1901, 8-6, 6-4.

T. M. Rotch 1901 beat J. R. Locke 1901, 6-4, 6-2.

J. R. Miller 1901 beat S. H. Derby '99 10-8, 4-6, 6-3.

A. G. Mason 1900, beat J. F. Brice '99, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.

H. S. Colton 1 L. beat A. Jacobs '98, 6-4, 6-1.

Entries for doubles close on Tuesday, May 24, at 6 p. m.

The consolation round, open to players beaten in their first match actually played will start today. All matches, including finals, will be the best two out of three, advantage sets. If the hours given below are unsatisfactory, men must arrange matches for themselves, as the consolation finals will be played on Wednesday. Men will please post their scores on the card at the Carey Building.
