Of recent events at Cornell the most interesting have been the ceremonies connected with the unveiling of the Brown Memorial Tablet. This was given by the Senior class in memory of C. B. Brown '00, of the 71st New York Volunteers, who fell at El Caney. It will be placed in the Alumni Hall, and is the work of Mr. Bela L. Pratt of Boston,
On January 26, the twentieth annual dinner of the New York Alumni was held at the Waldorf-Astoria and was very largely attended. President Schurman and several prominent graduates delivered addresses.
In the training of the track team several innovations have been made by Trainer Moakley, Every day twenty-five minutes is given to calisthenics and dumb-bell exercises, which are followed by practice in the special events.
The jumpers and hurdlers are given daily practice in racing, and the middle and long distance runners receive special training from the Cross Country Club's runs, which are held three times a week. The plan that is expected to give the best results is that of holding small indoor meets every Saturday. These will consist of sprints and the various field events, and are designed to accustom the men to competition.
The Junior Week begins today. An assembly will be held tonight, and dances will be given during the week by the different societies. The Junior Promenade on Friday night will be the first festivity.
