The Freshman nine defeated Andover Saturday, 5 to 2, in an exciting but poorly played game. The Freshmen were weak both in the field and at the bat. Clarkson won the game by striking out nineteen men and allowing but one hit. Marean had four passed balls and threw poorly to second, but made two hits. Lovering's showing at first base was very good, although he has had no practice in the position; he accepted seven chances without an error. The feature of the game, besides Clarkson's pitching, was the brilliant throwing of Matthews, shortstop for Andover. The score by innings: Batteries -- Clarkson and Marean; Mains and Winslow. The game between the Freshmen and Exeter which was scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled, and the next game will be the final one with Yale on Saturday.
