Dartmouth Wins at Basketball.

The University basketball team was defeated by Dartmouth at Hanover, N. H., on Saturday by the score of 26 to 18. Although the game was closely contested until the last minutes of play, the Harvard team was clearly inferior in weight and experience; the present Dartmouth team has played together with almost the same line-up for three years Harvard's team work was at its best in the middle of the second half. Previous to this the playing was very erratic, the men frequently trying for goals while down. Harvard's defensive play was unusually weak and showed the lack of recent practice. In offense, Harvard played fully as fast a game as Dartmouth and in both halves could break through her opponent's cover with ease. For Harvard, Gilles and Clark played the best games, Gilles securing four goals from fouls. Abbott and Newman did the best work for Dartmouth.

Following is the summary: Dartmouth.  Harvard. Craig, l.g.  r.f., Gilles. Foster, r.g.  l.f., Underwood. Alling, c.  c., Fenwick. Abbott, l.f. (Capt.)  r.g., Clark. Newman, r.f.  l.g., Lehmann.

Goals from the floor--Abbott 3, Craig 1, Alling 1, Newman 3, Foster 4, Gilles 2, Underwood 1, Fenwick 1, Lehmann 2, Clark 1. Goals from fouls -- Abbott 2, Gilles 4.
