Boston Latin, 12; Freshmen, 11.

The Freshman nine lost to the Boston Latin School team yesterday in a carelessly played game, by the score of 12 to 11. The defeat was the natural result of the carelessness and lack of snap which has characterized the team's practice for some time. The infield played poorly, missing many easy chances. Neither Hutchinson nor Alexander, who replaced him in the fifth inning, pitched effectively, and they were especially weak when men were on bases. White, the Latin School pitcher, was steady and fairly effective. Parker supported the Freshman pitchers well, and caught six men attempting to steal second. Bennett, at short stop, did the best fielding for the Freshmen, and Battelle was strongest at the bat.

The score by innings: Innings,  1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9 r.  h.  e Freshmen,  0  4  0  1  0  2  0  0  4--11  9  8 Boston L.S.  2  3  0  0  4  1  2  0  0--12  11  5
