NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At a special meeting of the Board of Overseers yesterday morning, it was voted to concur with the President and Fellows in their vote conferring the degree of Doctor of Laws upon President William McKinley. This unusual action was caused by the undue publicity given to the matter during the last few weeks.

It was also voted to concur with several appointments of the administration, among them that electing Herbert Weir Smyth Professor of Greek to serve from Sept. 1, 1901; appointing William Watson Goodwin, LL.D., Eliot Professor of Greek Literature, emeritus; and Joseph Henry Thayer, D.D., Bussey Professor of New Testament Criticism and Interpretation, emeritus.

A committee was appointed to conduct the next election of Overseers; and it was also voted to communicate to the President and Fellows the recommendation of the Committee on Government that the office of private secretary to the President be created.
