An informal reception to the Freshman class was held last evening in the living-room of the Union. R. Ernst '03 presided, and speeches were made by Major Higginson h'82, and Professor A. Lawrence Lowell '77, who welcomed the new men to the University and to the Union, which, Major Higginson said, is meant to be a common meeting place for all Harvard men. The University Glee Club then sang several songs, in some of which all the men present took part.
