LEWISTON, ME., Feb. 14, 1902.--Bates won the debate with the Harvard Senior team, before an audience of 2000. The judges were Hon. Wm. S. Putnam, Hon. Henry S. Dewey and Hon. Harry M. Verrill. the question, of which Bates supported the affirmative, was: "Resolved, That the United States should adopt a system of shipping subsidies."
