NEW YORK, March 14.--Harvard lost the hockey game tonight to Yale by a score of 5 to 3. Superior team play and phenomenal defensive work by the goal tender won the game for Yale. Harvard scored the first goal, and during the first part of the first half kept the puck in Yale's territory. Soon Yale improved and ended the half with the score 2 to 1 in her favor. In the second half Yale quickly scored two more goals; then Harvard scored twice, but in spite of vigorous work toward the end could not prevent Yale from scoring the fifth goal.

For Yale Stoddard was very brilliant, shooting most of Yale's goals, and Stern was practically invulnerable at goal. Carr and Winsor did the best playing for Harvard.

The line-up was as follows: HARVARD.  YALE. Pruyn, f.  f., Snow. Winsor, f.  f., Ostby. Foster, f.  f., Stoddard. Rumsey, f.  f., Potter. Penballow, c.p.  c.p., Hitchcock. Carr, p.  p., Ward. Manning, g.  g., Stern.

The second game of the final series between Harvard and Yale will be played on the St. Nicholas Rink tonight.
