A Very Slow Game.--Large Score Due Partly to Lehigh's Weak Fielding.

The University nine defeated Lehigh yesterday in a very easy game by a score of 26 to 1. Farabaugh's pitching for Lehigh was not effective, Harvard making 21 hits, three of which were home runs, and profiting greatly by Lehigh's miserable fielding which resulted in 12 errors. The team batted well, although some of the men had difficulty in timing slow balls. The fielding as a whole was sharp and clean.

Stillman pitched well, allowing Lehigh no hits and but one base on balls up to the eighth inning, when two hits gave the opponents their one run; and struck out fifteen men. At the bat, out of a total of six turns, he made one home run, two singles, one sacrifice hit, and drew two bases on balls. Carr made one of Harvard's two errors by a wild throw over first base, which allowed the batter to reach third. He failed, however, to make a hit, being unable to time the slow ball. Clarkson accepted his one chance in centre field and made one two base hit and two singles and drew one base on balls. Randall made three hits, including a home run, but did not run bases well. Skilton played well at second base and made three hits. Daly's work at shortstop was clean and fast, but his batting was poor; he made two hits but struck out three times to an easy pitcher. H. D. Kernan had one chance in right field, retiring a man at first by the rapid fielding of a ground ball. At the bat he made two hits and struck out once. R. P. Kernan made Harvard's second errors by dropping a third strike and thus allowing a base runner to gain third on the throw to first. He made one single and a home run.
