FIRST BASKETBALL PRACTICE

Squad Increased to 93.--Coaches Appointed.--No Practice Tomorrow

The first regular practice of the candidates for the University and class basketball teams was held last night in the Gymnasium. The candidates were divided into class squads, from each of which two teams were picked and practice games played. Each squad also spent some time in throwing baskets. With the exception of tomorrow, practice will continue in the Gymnasium every evening until the class games, the Sophomores reporting at 7 o'clock, the Graduates, Seniors and Juniors at 7.30 o'clock, and the Freshmen at 8.15 o'clock. There will be additional practice in throwing goals during the afternoons. The number of candidates has been increased to ninety-three.

H. H. Bennett '04 has been appointed coach of the Senior team, Smith '05 of the Junior, and J. F. Henderson '05 of the Sophomore team; H. B. Bigelow '05, captain of the University team, will have charge of the Freshman squad and will pick the team to play in the class games, after which a regular coach will be appointed.

J. R. Montgomery has been elected captain of the Sophomore team; the other captains will be elected later. H. A. Mumma has been appointed manager of the Freshman team.
