The twelve pairs who entered the University whist tournament, which begins tonight, have been divided into three sections of four each. Each pair will play a match consisting of sixteen hands at duplicate whist with the other pairs of the same section. Then the two surviving pairs from each section will enter the semi-finals. The two winners of the most matches in the semi-finals play together in the finals. Silver cups will be given to the winning pair. Pairs in each section are as follows:
