The University baseball team will play the second and final game of the series with Holy Cross this afternoon at Worcester on the Holy Cross diamond. The squad will start from the Square at 12.45 o'clock, leaving for Worcester on the 1.15 o'clock train from the South Terminal.
The first game of the series, which was played on May 27 at Cambridge, was won by Harvard by a score of 13 to 1; but owing to the fact that Holy Cross was handicapped by the absence of their first pitcher, McGeehan, this score cannot be set down as showing the comparative strength of the two teams. With McGeehan in the box, the Holy Cross team defeated Yale on May 16 by the score of 3 to 0, showing marked superiority over their opponents both in batting and fielding.
The University nine has of late played lamentably poor ball. While the strength of the team at the bat has been uncertain throughout the season, it was only in the Brown game on Wednesday, that like unsteadiness in the field was noticeable. In the practice since that time no marked improvement has been shown, general nervousness having been in evidence.
In today's game, Clarkson will pitch, and Kernan will be behind the bat again.
