Forty-one men reported at the first hockey practice, which was held yesterday afternoon in the basement of the Gymnasium. The forwards practiced in shooting, giving special attention to direction, and the defence practiced stopping the puck. As long as practice is held in the Gymnasium the work will be similar to that held yesterday afternoon. When the squad gets on the ice, however, short scrimmages will be held, and the coach will thus be afforded a better opportunity to judge the merits of the men. There will probably be no cut in the squad until after the Christmas recess. A bulletin announcing place of practice will be posted each day before 2 o'clock in Leavitt & Peirce's.
