The University hockey team will play the Freshmen on the first Stadium rink at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Although the Freshmen have improved recently in team play and are strong on the defense, the University team should win easily.
In practice yesterday afternoon the University team was handicapped by the absence from the line-up of three regular players, but it defeated the Freshmen by a score of 6 to 3 after a 35-minute game. Although the team play of the University forwards was good considering the number of substitutes playing, the men were rather weak in keeping possession of the puck. The defense was fairly strong and had little difficulty in stopping their opponents. Newhall at coverpoint body-checked effectively, and Townsend at left center showed considerable ability in advancing the puck through the Freshman defense, which was strong, Carpenter, at goal, making several remarkable stops.
