The Junior Promenade and its attendant festivities were the most important events of last week. On Monday the Sophomore and Junior Germans took place, and on Tuesday the Junior Promenade was danced by over five hundred couples in the armory.

The university basketball team defeated Princeton on January 21 by a score of 17 to 13; and on Thursday the team won over Pennsylvania by a score of 31 to 14. In this game Yale showed marked improvement in team work, completely outclassing her opponent throughout the contest. The university hockey team, with several substitutes in the line-up, easily defeated Brown in a rough game at St. Nicholas Rink on Saturday by a score of 11 to 0.

Candidates for the university crew were called out on Thursday, thirty-seven men reporting. The work of the freshman crew is progressing most satisfactorily. One hundred and thirty men reported as candidates for battery positions on the university baseball team and for the freshman nine on Saturday.

Bruce D. Smith 1905 has been elected captain of the golf team for the coming season.

The libraries of the university show an increase of 20,000 volumes over last year, bringing the total to about 3,90,000 books.
