The University has received through Hon. William Jennings Bryan, as executor, four hundred dollars, the annual income of which is to be used for a prize for the best essay on the principles of free government.

This prize fund is one of twenty-five distributed among different American universities selected by Mr. Bryan in accordance with the provisions of the will of the late Philo Sherman Bennett of New Haven, Connecticut. The prize is to be called the Philo Sherman Bennett Prize, and will probably be administered by the Department of History and Government.
