University Team Won in First Round but Lost Two Matches in Second.

HAVERFORD, PA., October 1.-The University team won its four matches in the first round of the intercollegiate tennis tournament this morning, but lost two out of four matches in the second round this afternoon. All the colleges except Columbia sent full teams, but Leroy is the only Columbia representative. He will meet J. M. Morse '07 tomorrow, and the chances of winning in this mate favor Leroy. C. C. Pell '08 will meet the winner of the Miller-Register match. The doubles begin tomorrow, but no comparative rating of the colleges can be made, as only final winners in singles, and doubles count.

K. Thompson, Williams, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0: M. Thompson, Princeton, beat Marston, Cornell, 6-3, 6-3; Pell, Harvard, beat Dolbeare, Yale, 6-1, 6-2; Drennan, Cornell, beat Brown, Haverford, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5; Richardson, Princeton, beat Thompson, Williams, 6-1, 6-1; Dabney, Harvard, beat Partridge, Yale, 6-4, 6-4.
