Spring Football Begins Monday

At a meeting of football men last night in Lower Massachusetts Coach W. T. Reid '01 and Captain H. Foster '07 outlined the plans for spring football.

Coach Reid said that the spring football practice was in great measure to test the new rules. In order, therefore, he said, to ascertain the results of the working of these rules, scrimmages will be held this year for the first time. These results cannot possibly be obtained unless every man reports regularly on time for practice.

In speaking of the new rules, Coach Reid emphasized the importance of their being strictly carried out if intercollegiate football is to be continued next year. Fair play is necessary, he said, to the success of football, and the chief opposition to the game has been caused by unfair playing and neglect in carrying out the rules.

Spring practice will begin Monday at 4 o'clock in the Stadium. For the first week there will be a short 30-minute practice consisting of light work. Later, scrimmages will be held.
