Latest Plans for Northfield

Arrangements are well under way for the Harvard delegation to the annual Northfield Conference of students from Canada and the East, to be held at East Northfield, Mass., from June 22 to July 1. About 40 men have already handed in their names, and plans have been made for a delegation of 150. The committee requests that all men who wish to go hand their names if possible by May 15 to one of the members of the committee named below.

One of the most attractive features of the conference will be a series of talks on the various professions, which will be given just at sun-down each evening on Round Top, a small hill overlooking the Connecticut River. One of the speakers will be Dr. Endicott Peabody, head-master of Groton School, who will present the opportunities in teaching; and one of the professors in the Harvard Medical School has been asked to speak on Medicine. Among the speakers at the regular meetings in the Auditorium will be Bishop Anderson, of Chicago; Mr. Robert E. Speer, of New York; Professor R. A. Falconer, of Halifax, N. S.; Rev. J. Ross Stevenson, D.D., of New York; and Dr. S. M. Zwemer, of Arabia.

Every afternoon will be given up to athletic sports, including a track meet, baseball series, and golf and tennis tournaments. The annual celebration and bonfire usually held on July 4th will occur on June 27. This celebration and all the sports will be in charge of an athletic committee, of which R. H. Oveson '05 is to be chairman.

The expenses will be as follows: program fee, which goes to defray the general cost of the conference, $5; board and room for 10 days, $12; round trip tickets from Cambridge, $3.75. Men attending only part of the Conference will be charged only for the actual time.

The Harvard delegation will go to Northfield by special train, leaving Boston the morning after Class Day, June 23, probably by the Boston & Albany R.R. Men attending the Engineering Camp at Squam Lake, who wish to attend will probably be excused from June 28 to July 1, inclusive, and will be allowed to make up their work on returning. Provision will be made for Seniors to attend the Conference for either the five days before Commencement or the three days following.

The following committee is in charge of all arrangements: W. H. Keeling '07, chairman; R. H. Oveson '05, T. B. Dorman '06, A. N. Holcombe '06, T. F. Savage '06, A. E. Wood '06, C. W. Cate '07. D. G.
