HOLY CROSS AT WORCESTER

Baseball Team Plays on Fitton Field Today.--Opponents' Record is Good.

The University baseball team's first game with Holy Cross will be played this afternoon at 3 o'clock on Fitton Field, Worcester. Whether Hartford, Brennan or Slater will pitch will depend on how they warm up in the preliminary practice. Mansfield or Ahearn will be in the box for Holy Cross.

Holy Cross started out this year with a dubious outlook. Six of last year's exceptional team had left, including Odrain, their best pitcher. With only three yeterans in college, a team was gradually built up out of new material and is now developing rapidly. Their record this spring has been good, with victories over Trinity, 7-6, Wesleyan, 7-0, Georgetown, 1-0, and the strong Williams team, 11-8, while they have lost two games to Princeton's variable nine, 2-3 and 0-4. Last year Harvard lost both games to Holy Cross, 2-4 and 0-4.

Leonard will be in the game today for the first time since the West Point game, when he strained a tendon in his leg. His presence on third will make a big difference in the University team's infield and will make possible a stronger batting order. Dana will be in right field again as the result of his good work in the Amherst game.

The batting order: HARVARD.  HOLY CROSS. Leonard, 3b.  c.f., Cahill Briggs, 1b.  2b., Cashen McCall, 2b.  s.s., Barry Dexter, l.f.  l.f., Orchard Simons, s.s.  1b., Carney Harvey, c.f.  3b., O'Rourke Dana, r.f.  r.f., Dowd Currier, c.  c., Sweeney Hartford, Brennan, or Slater, p.  p., Mansfield or Ahearn
