Columbia Crew Practice Yesterday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

NEW YORK, May 8.--Coach Rice put the University crew through lighter practice than usual this afternoon, the men rowing up the Harlem for half a mile and then down to High Bridge. In a number of racing starts the first crew pulled ahead of the second and maintained their lead from High Bridge. The crews returned to the boathouse in several easy stretches.

Starbuck rowed in better form today than yesterday, and is fast mastering the Rice stroke. Von Saltza is fully recovered from his illness, and will doubtless be in perfect condition for the Harvard race.
